Description

Pregnacare Plus

Pregnacare Plus provides the core Pregnacare pregnancy formula together with separate omega-3 capsules, so it covers both the vitamins and minerals of pregnancy and the long chain fatty acids that a diet low in oily fish may not supply.

How it works

The tablet covers the raised requirements of pregnancy: folic acid for the first trimester when the neural tube forms, iron for the increase in blood volume, and vitamin D for calcium absorption and the baby's developing bones. The separate capsule supplies DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid that contributes to normal brain and eye development in the fetus and breastfed infant. DHA comes mainly from oily fish, and many people eat little of it, which is the gap this format fills.

How to use it

Take one tablet and one capsule a day as directed on the pack, with or just after your main meal and with water or a cold drink. Taking them with food reduces the nausea that iron and fish oil can cause. If morning sickness is a problem, taking them in the evening often works better.

Who it is for

It is for women during pregnancy, particularly those who eat little or no oily fish. Those planning a pregnancy may prefer the Conception formula, and those breastfeeding the New Mom formula. Women needing a higher folic acid dose should speak to a GP or midwife.

Safety and when to get advice

The omega-3 in this product is from fish oil, so it is not suitable if you are allergic to fish, and it is not a vegetarian product. Do not take additional vitamin A supplements or cod liver oil alongside, since cod liver oil contains vitamin A, which should be avoided in pregnancy. Contact your midwife or maternity unit without delay for bleeding, severe or persistent headache, visual disturbance, sudden swelling of the face, hands or feet, severe abdominal pain, or reduced fetal movements. Our UK pharmacy team can answer questions about this product before you buy.

Common questions

Why the separate capsule?
Omega-3 is an oil and cannot be compressed into the tablet, so it is supplied alongside it.

Can I take cod liver oil instead?
No. Cod liver oil contains vitamin A, which should be avoided in pregnancy.

Is it suitable if I do not eat fish?
The capsule is fish oil based, so ask a pharmacist about an alternative if you avoid fish.

Always read the information supplied with the pack before use.

Directions

Navigating the path of pregnancy involves careful consideration of your health and nutrition. Take one Pregnacare Plus tablet and one Omega-3 DHA capsule daily with your main meal. It's recommended to swallow both the tablet and the capsule whole with water and to avoid chewing them. Consistency is key; integrating Pregnacare Plus into your daily routine ensures a steady supply of essential nutrients that contribute to a healthy pregnancy.

Ingredients

Pregnacare Plus combines a thoughtfully selected blend of nutrients that play vital roles during pregnancy:

Folic Acid: Crucial for the development of the baby's neural tube.

Iron: Supports red blood cell production to prevent iron deficiency.

Vitamin D: Contributes to bone health and immune function.

Omega-3 DHA: Aids in the development of the baby's brain and eyes.

Calcium: Essential for maintaining strong bones and teeth.

Side Effects

Pregnacare Plus is developed to be well-tolerated when taken according to the recommended dosage. However, as with any dietary supplement, potential side effects may occur. Some individuals might experience mild gastrointestinal discomfort, such as bloating or indigestion. If you encounter any adverse effects, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. Adhering to the dosage instructions and reading the product label is crucial for your safety.

Warnings

Pregnacare Plus is formulated specifically for pregnant women. If you're not pregnant, this supplement may not be aligned with your current nutritional needs.

Prior to incorporating Pregnacare Plus into your regimen, consult your healthcare provider, particularly if you're taking medications, have underlying health conditions, or are planning a pregnancy.

While Pregnacare Plus provides essential nutrients for pregnancy, it is not intended to replace a balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. It is designed to complement these practices and enhance overall well-being.
