Description

Aeon Protect Plus Eye Drops

Aeon Protect Plus is a lubricating eye drop formulated to give relief from moderate to severe dry eye. It contains cross linked sodium hyaluronate and is the only dry eye drop in the range indicated for use before and after eye surgery.

How it works

Cross linking changes the structure of the sodium hyaluronate so that it stays on the surface of the eye for longer than the non cross linked form. The result is a more durable lubricating layer, which matters when dryness is persistent or when the ocular surface is recovering and needs steady protection rather than frequent short lived relief.

How to use it

Wash your hands first. Tilt your head back, pull the lower lid down gently and instil one drop into the pocket formed, then blink to spread it across the surface. Use as directed on the pack or as advised by your eye care professional, particularly if you are using the drops around a surgical procedure.

Who it is for

It is for adults with moderate to severe dry eye, and for people advised to use a lubricant before or after eye surgery. It is not a treatment for eye infection or injury.

Safety and when to get advice

Get your eyes checked if you have pain, marked light sensitivity, discharge, reduced vision or dryness that is getting worse despite regular use. Follow any instructions given by your surgeon or optometrist, avoid touching the nozzle to the eye, and observe the discard period printed on the pack. Our UK pharmacy team can answer questions about this product before you buy.

Common questions

Can it be used after surgery?
It is indicated for use before and after eye surgery. Follow the advice given by your eye care team.

How is it different from standard drops?
The cross linked sodium hyaluronate stays on the eye surface longer than the non cross linked form.

Is it preservative free on the eye?
The formulation is designed so the preservative dissipates, leaving the drop effectively preservative free on the eye surface.

Always read the patient information leaflet supplied with the pack before use.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

Can I use it for everyday dryness, not just around surgery?

Yes. As well as use before and after eye surgery, it can relieve everyday dry eye from causes such as screen use, air conditioning, central heating or air travel. Its longer-lasting effect also makes it well suited to night-time use.

Is it suitable for contact lens wearers?

It is compatible with all types of contact lenses. If you also use other eye drops or medication, follow the patient information leaflet or ask your optometrist, and allow a short gap between different products.

How long can the bottle be used after opening?

The dropper is designed to keep the solution sterile without a preservative. The bottle can typically be used for up to 60 days after opening; always confirm against the in-use period and expiry date on your packaging and leaflet.

How is this different from standard AEON PROTECT?

This version uses cross-linked sodium hyaluronate for longer-lasting moisture and is intended for moderate to severe dryness and use around surgery. For mild to moderate dry eye, the standard AEON PROTECT may be the better fit. If you are unsure which is right for you, contact our pharmacy team at info@rightangled.com.
